Calif. Grocery Workers Win Cert. In Lockout Actions

Law360, New York (October 26, 2010, 2:07 PM EDT) -- A California judge has certified a pair of class actions that claim union employees of the Albertsons LLC and Ralphs Grocery Co. grocery chains were entitled to unemployment benefits during an 18-week lockout in 2003 and 2004.

Judge William F. Highberger of the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles, on Oct. 19 granted one motion for class certification filed by the Albertsons employees and another motion filed by the Ralphs employees.
