Illumina Infringed Gene Detection Patents: Jury

Law360, New York (March 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal jury has found that genetic research product maker Illumina Inc. infringed five patents held by rival company Affymetric Inc., and has ordered it to pay around $16.7 million in back royalties.

The case, first filed back in 2004, alleges infringement of six Affymetrix patents related to aspects of software, hardware and arrays, all of which are used for DNA sequencing and other purposes.
