French Court Sides With Novartis In J&J Patent War

Law360, New York (October 28, 2010, 6:49 PM EDT) -- A French appeals court has handed Novartis AG a victory in its fierce patent battle with Johnson & Johnson over long-wear contact lenses, affirming a lower court's order banning J&J from selling its Acuvue Oasys brand lenses in France.

The Court of Appeal in Paris on Wednesday upheld a lower court's March 2009 decision that Novartis' European patent for extended-wear lenses is valid in France, Johnson & Johnson confirmed on Thursday.
