CallWave Pays j2 $4M To Settle Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (March 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Digital messaging service CallWave Inc. has agreed to pay rival j2 Global Communications Inc. over $4 million to settle ongoing patent litigation and license patents going forward, the companies said Wednesday.

The settlement resolves patent litigation filed by j2 and its affiliate Catch Curve against CallWave in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California in 2004 and 2005. j2 claimed that CallWave infringed its patents for storing, delivering and managing phone and fax messages over the Internet.
