DNA Manufacturer Sued For Patent Infringement

Law360, New York (March 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two universities and a biotechnology company sued Blue Heron Biotechnology Inc. on Wednesday for infringing on five patents through the use of Blue Heron's Genemaker gene synthesis platform, a DNA making machine.

The GeneMaker is a manufacturing platform that makes double-stranded DNA molecules. It can be used to test mutations, replicate rare RNA strands and outsource cloning.
