Germany Tops International Trademark List

Law360, New York (March 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As the number of international trademark applications continues to go up, Germany took top honors for the fourteenth straight year in terms of most applications filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization.

The WIPO revealed its results Thursday, revealing that German-based companies had registered 6,552 trademark applications in 2006 under the Madrid system for the international registration of trademarks.

The number accounted for 18% of the total share, the WIPO said.
