European Biodiesel Group Decries U.S. Subsidies

Law360, New York (March 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Cheap U.S. biodiesel, supported by government subsidies, is distorting the European market for the green energy source, an industry association told the European Commission on Monday.

The United States’ support to biodiesel producers and exporters who make a blended formula called B99 – made of 99.9% biodiesel and 0.1% fossil diesel – hurts European makers and generates unfair competition, the European Biodiesel Board said in a letter to Peter Mandelson, the trade commissioner.
