JSW Steel Settles With Commerce Over Steel Duties

Law360, New York (November 9, 2010, 5:48 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has agreed to slash countervailing duties against JSW Steel Ltd. from a draconian 485 percent to less than 77 percent, settling a suit brought by the Indian steel producer in 2008.

JSW and the DOC settled the final countervailing duty rate on JSW’s hot-rolled carbon steel flat products at 76.88 percent for imports that entered the United States in 2006, according to a joint stipulation lodged Monday in the U.S. Court of International Trade.
