GOP Senate Leader Backs Suit Over Health Care Reform

Law360, New York (November 10, 2010, 4:42 PM EST) -- Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly decided to file an amicus brief supporting the states litigating to reverse President Barack Obama's landmark health care reform law.

McConnell, R-Ky., cited his oath to defend the constitution as a reason to oppose the law, which requires that individuals purchase health care insurance from private providers on penalty of fines — a provision opponents say is unconstitutional.
