Microsoft Accuses Motorola Of Patent License-Gouging

Law360, New York (November 10, 2010, 5:34 PM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. has filed a breach of contract suit that accuses Motorola Inc. of failing to adhere to agreements brokered by industry standards groups to charge reasonable rates for licenses related to wireless local network and video coding technology patents.

The Redmond, Wash.-based technology giant’s complaint, lodged Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, seeks an order blocking the Schaumburg, Ill.-based voice and data products company from demanding excessive royalties.
