Cobalt's Generic Boniva Barred In Roche IP Spat

Law360, New York (November 10, 2010, 5:09 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Wednesday granted Hoffman-La Roche Ltd.'s bid for a preliminary injunction to bar Cobalt Pharmaceuticals Inc. from launching a generic version of bone-loss prevention treatment Boniva.

Judge Stanley R. Chesler of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey enjoined Cobalt from making or selling a generic version of Boniva until the court rules on the validity and enforcement of the two patents-in-suit.

The judge also ordered Roche to pay a bond of $10 million, far less than the $557 million...
