UK Court To Weigh In On Digital Piracy Law

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 4:11 PM EST) -- A British court has granted a bid by Internet services providers TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC and BT Group PLC to review the Digital Economy Act, which aims to put obligations on ISPs to prevent illegal file-sharing.

Judge Wynn Williams of the U.K. High Court on Wednesday allowed for a judicial review of parts of the legislation after the ISPs argued that the law was “illegal and disproportionate,” according to TalkTalk.
