Qualcomm Calls Nokia's Patent Claims "Meritless"

Law360, New York (March 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Nokia Corp.’s recent patent claims against Qualcomm Inc. have not fazed the chip maker, which said on Tuesday that Nokia’s latest allegations of patent exhaustion are entirely meritless.

Finland-based Nokia said Monday that it had requested declarations that Qualcomm’s European patents were exhausted on products sold in the European Union.

The complaints, filed in the Regional Court of Mannheim in Germany and the Hague District Court in the Netherlands, argue that the Qualcomm licenses in the E.U. should no longer apply.
