Fresno Criticizes Customs' Attempt To Dodge $1M Suit

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 4:59 PM EST) -- Fresno, Calif., has lambasted U.S. Customs and Border Protection for trying to avoid returning $1 million in cash it admittedly overcharged the city for airport services, saying it has “failed” the trade community.

The agency, which once allegedly promised Fresno in a letter that it would do “everything within [its] power” to correct about $1.1 million in overbilling, now claims the onus was on Fresno to audit its invoices from the government and discover the extra charges long ago.
