DOD Rule Tightens Screws On Negligent Contractors

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 12:30 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense is rolling out a new rule that would require contracting officers to consider reducing or denying contract fee awards if a contractor’s actions put the health and safety of government workers at risk.

The interim rule will take effect immediately, targeting contractors and subcontractors that act with gross negligence or recklessly disregard the health and safety of government personnel, according to a notice published Friday in the Federal Register.
