High Court Declines To Review Uranium Mining Case

Law360, New York (November 15, 2010, 12:17 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to weigh in on a battle launched by environmental and Native American groups over alleged health and safety risks stemming from in situ leach uranimum mining in northwestern New Mexico approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

In an order issued Monday, the high court revealed that it would not be reviewing arguments pushed by the groups that the mining will contaminate large areas of groundwater, including a primary source of drinking water for 15,000 Navajos.
