Web Clampdowns Violate WTO Rules: Google

Law360, New York (November 16, 2010, 7:27 PM EST) -- Google Inc. has lashed out at China, Turkey and others for restricting access to the Internet, saying the constraints hamper free trade and economic vitality and could run afoul of World Trade Organization rules.

In a white paper released Monday, Google urged policymakers in the United States, the European Union and elsewhere to tear down barriers to commerce over the Internet, including taking action when countries violate international free trade rules.
