France Says Diabetes Drug May Have Led To 500 Deaths

Law360, New York (November 18, 2010, 3:57 PM EST) -- France's health minister has reportedly urged patients to see their doctors if they took the diabetes drug Mediator after a report revealed that use of the now-banned drug may have been linked to the deaths of 500 people over the past three decades.

“Our message to all those who took Mediator is that they must see a doctor — particularly those who took it for three months over the past four years,” French Health Minister Xavier Bertrand said in a news conference, according to Agence France-Presse....
