Comcast, Time Warner Hit In Latest Wi-Lan Suit

Law360, New York (November 22, 2010, 1:59 PM EST) -- Wi-Lan Inc. has taken aim at three cable giants with its latest patent suit, accusing Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc. and Charter Communications Inc. of infringing a broadcast data transmission patent.

The complaint, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleges that all three companies' transmission systems using the data over cable system interface specification, or DOCSIS, violate one of Wi-Lan's patents.
