Army Contractor Settles EEOC Pregnancy Bias Suit

Law360, New York (December 2, 2010, 7:55 PM EST) -- Akal Security Inc. has agreed to a $1.6 million settlement of a class action suit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of former female employees who claim the New Mexico-based security firm, which provides security for government facilities, discriminated against them when they became pregnant.

The settlement, approved Thursday by Judge Thomas Marten of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas, ends litigation between the largest provider of security services to the federal government and 26 of its former employees...
