Oil Spill Panel Considers New Oversight Agency

Law360, New York (December 2, 2010, 8:06 PM EST) -- The presidential oil spill commission considered a proposal Thursday to create a new agency that would place an "impenetrable wall" between safety and environmental regulators on one side and officials who oversee the revenues from leases on the other, a proposal that goes even further than others to overhaul the offshore oil drilling industry and its oversight.
