Bayer Slams Dow Over Herbicide Resistance Patent

Law360, New York (December 6, 2010, 2:51 PM EST) -- Bayer CropScience AG has accused Dow AgroSciences LLC of infringing a patent that explains how to transform crops with genes that make them resistant to a popular herbicide used to kill invasive weeds.

The lawsuit was filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. The genes and genetically modified plants at issue produce enzymes that help break down 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, one of the most widely used herbicides in the world.
