Aetna To Scoop Up Health Tech Co. Medicity For $500M

Law360, New York (December 7, 2010, 3:18 PM EST) -- Aetna Inc. said Tuesday that it is buying health information exchange technology company Medicity Inc. for roughly $500 million so that the Hartford, Conn.-based health benefits giant can deploy technology solutions to improve patient care and cut costs.

Aetna touted Salt Lake City, Utah-based Medicity as one of the country's largest providers of health information exchange technology solutions, saying it offers services that enable health care providers to securely access and share health care information.
