Law360, New York (December 07, 2010, 5:42 PM ET) -- A federal appeals court on Tuesday reversed a $16.5 million verdict for Western Union Co. in its patent suit against MoneyGram Payment Systems Inc., ruling that the electronic money transfer patents involved were obvious.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that a federal district court judge incorrectly determined that MoneyGram waived its rights to dismiss Western Union's suit on obviousness grounds.
