Judge OKs $3.9M Chemtura Deal Over Gowanus Cleanup

Law360, New York (December 7, 2010, 8:40 PM EST) -- A bankruptcy judge on Tuesday signed off on Chemtura Corp.’s proposed $3.9 million settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stemming from the company’s cleanup obligations at the Gowanus Canal Superfund site in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Judge Robert Gerber of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York granted Chemtura’s bid to approve the deal, finding that it was "fair, reasonable and consistent with environmental law.”
