USAID Suspends AED From Contracts Amid Inquiry

Law360, New York (December 9, 2010, 5:43 PM EST) -- The U.S. Agency for International Development has suspended the Academy for Educational Development from any new government contracts pending an ongoing investigation that has already turned up potential misconduct at the nonprofit.

USAID said Wednesday that its Office of the Inspector General's investigation into AED has revealed evidence that suggests “serious corporate misconduct, mismanagement and a lack of internal controls, and raise serious concerns of corporate integrity.”

The agency said that it is in the process of conducting a review of every program associated with AED....
