Sens. Balk At Provision To Extend Drill Permit Wait

Law360, New York (December 9, 2010, 8:01 PM EST) -- A pair of U.S. senators has urged the Senate Appropriations Committee to reject a provision in the U.S. House of Representatives' continuing resolution that would triple the length of the permitting process for offshore drilling projects.

Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Mary Landrieu, D-La., penned a letter Tuesday to ranking members of the committee's Subcommittee on the Interior, saying the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement already regularly fails to stick to the 30-day review periods currently in place.
