Barnes & Noble, WebMD Sued Over Web Profile Patent

Law360, New York (December 13, 2010, 7:07 PM EST) -- Delaware-based EIT Holdings LLC has accused Barnes & Noble Inc., WebMD LLC and three others of infringing its patent covering technology tailoring content to registered website users based on information culled from their user profiles and their website viewing and purchasing history.

The suit, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges the companies are violating the patent EIT holds for Norwegian inventor Martin Eikeland.

Along with Barnes & Noble and WebMD, the plaintiff also names as defendants Inc.,
