Lime Wire Wins Access To Record Cos.' Royalty Info

Law360, New York (December 15, 2010, 4:22 PM EST) -- A magistrate judge has ordered record companies suing Lime Wire LLC for copyright infringement to share information on their royalty expenses, which the file-sharing service can use to argue that $1B in damages sought by the plaintiffs is excessive.

Magistrate Judge Debra C. Freeman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled on Tuesday that the plaintiffs should produce documents sufficient to show their royalty expenses for a sample set of post-1972 songs and albums.
