DuPont Settles NJ Tainted Water Suit For $8.3M

Law360, New York (December 16, 2010, 12:39 PM EST) -- DuPont Co. has reached a preliminary settlement with New Jersey residents in two lawsuits accusing the company of contaminating public and private water sources with the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid.

Under the proposed agreement, which was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the plaintiffs would drop both lawsuits in exchange for $8.3 million, with each plaintiff household receiving $200.
