Homeowners Insurers Dodge Chinese Drywall Claims

Law360, New York (December 17, 2010, 5:55 PM ET) -- A federal judge has dismissed a number of homeowners insurance companies from the multidistrict litigation over allegedly defective Chinese drywall in New Orleans, but attorneys said Friday the decision still left the door open to pursue claims related to commercial policies.

Allstate Insurance Co., State Farm Fire & Casualty Co. and other insurers with homeowners' policies at issue in the litigation had exclusions in their plans that precluded coverage, Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana ruled Thursday....
