Debevoise Reps Uralkali In $8B Silvinit Deal

Law360, New York (December 20, 2010, 7:02 PM EST) -- Russian potash producer OAO Uralkali said Monday that it planned to acquire rival OAO Silvinit to create a combined company with a market capitalization of about $24 billion.

Uralkali said it was buying a 20 percent stake in Silvinit for $894.50 a share, for a total of $1.4 billion, from a Moscow financial firm and that it would purchase the rest of Silvinit through an issuance of new shares.

The full company will cost Uralkali $8.1 billion, the New York Times reported Monday.
