China Thumbs Nose At US Gripes Over Wind Subsidies

Law360, New York (December 23, 2010, 5:55 PM EST) -- China on Thursday defended its wind power industry subsidies of up to $22.5 million against U.S. complaints that the program is unfair, saying the measures are necessary to fight climate change.

"Every country in the world is seeking to develop renewable energy to cope with climate change. China's wind power measures are helping save energy and protect the environment," China's Commerce Ministry said in a statement originally published in Chinese.
