Employees Accuse Wal-Mart Of Wage Tampering

Law360, New York (April 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Wal-Mart workers hit their employer with a proposed class action on Friday, charging that the megastore has secretly deleted and faked payroll records in order to cut down on their wages.

The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, claims that new evidence, which includes videotaped admissions, proves that Wal-Mart executives erased thousands of hours from employees’ work records and used a so-called “one-minute clock out,” clocking the workers out a minute after they had punched in.
