9th Circ. Upholds Target Deal With Former Worker

Law360, New York (January 3, 2011, 7:55 PM EST) -- A federal appeals court has affirmed Target Corp.’s settlement of a suit brought by a former employee alleging the retail giant fired him over his service in the National Guard.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Dec. 27 upheld the deal between Target and James Patton after the Oregon Supreme Court determined that the state’s consent was not necessary in any settlement that would reduce or eliminate Oregon's share of punitive damages.
