Dewey Can Enforce Subpoena In $1B Legal Advice Suit

Law360, New York (January 3, 2011, 3:40 PM EST) -- Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP has won the right to enforce a subpoena against the Missouri insurance commissioner in a $1 billion case over the firm's advice to collapsed General American Life Insurance Co.

A three-judge panel in the Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District, on Friday granted Dewey's request for a writ of mandamus ordering the lower court judge overseeing the case, Judge Kevin Crane, to compel the state's Department of Insurance to hand over documents Sidley Austin LLP prepared for the insurance commissioner.
