Physician Sentenced For Securities, Medicare Fraud

Law360, New York (April 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has ordered a doctor to spend 10 years in prison and pay restitution of $335 million for his role in an insurance scheme that cheated investors, partly by lying about life expectancies.

Judge Paul C. Huck of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida also sentenced Clark Mitchell on Friday to three years’ supervised release once he finishes his prison term for one count of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
