US Exempts Security Systems From Energy Standards

Law360, New York (January 5, 2011, 6:00 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama has signed off on a law that excludes power supplies for security and life safety alarm systems from federal energy efficiency standards for idle electronic devices.

Signed Tuesday, the law amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to make sure that external power supplies for security and life safety alarm systems are immune from the act's no-load mode energy efficiency standards under certain conditions.
