Senate Eyes Penn. Health Insurers' Merger

Law360, New York (April 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary will hold a hearing in Philadelphia on Monday to discuss a planned merger between two Pennsylvania-based health insurance companies that has already raised eyebrows among local lawmakers.

The $120 million proposed union between Independence Blue Cross of Philadelphia and Highmark Inc. of Pittsburgh has garnered a significant amount of attention among Pennsylvania legislators since it’s unveiling on March 28.
