Union Carbide Off Hook For 172 Asbestos Claims

Law360, New York (January 6, 2011, 6:43 PM EST) -- A federal judge has dropped 172 claims against Union Carbide Corp. in a multidistrict litigation that accuses hundreds of companies of exposing consumers to products that caused asbestos-related injuries.

Magistrate Judge Faith Angell dismissed the asbestos-related claims against Union Carbide in an order filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, saying there was no evidence that any of the chemical manufacturer's products were responsible for the plaintiffs' alleged health problems.
