U.K. Technology Company Sues Amazon, Others Over Web Tracking Technology

Law360, New York (September 15, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- British Technology Group (BTG), a London-based company involved in intellectual property and technology commercialization, has filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, and two other internet companies that it accuses of infringing on patents related to the tracking of internet users.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, alleges that the companies use BTG's patented technology as part of their online marketing programs. The complaint seeks unspecified damages for past infringement and injunctions against future use of the technology.
