Qualcomm Files Two New Patent Suits Against Nokia

Law360, New York (April 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Cell phone chip maker Qualcomm Inc. filed two new patent infringement suits against Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia Corp. in separate U.S. federal courts on Monday, claiming Nokia’s GSM/GPRS/EDGE phones infringe five of Qualcomm’s patents.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, Qualcomm alleges that Nokia infringed on two patents related to voice encoders in certain GSM phones.
