High Court Denies Cert In AK Steel Battle With Union

Law360, New York (January 10, 2011, 4:56 PM EST) -- A steelworkers union on Monday failed to secure U.S. Supreme Court review of a decision favoring AK Steel Corp. that found a court, rather than an arbitrator, should decide the arbitrability of grievances falling outside its collective bargaining agreement.

The high court denied the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers AFL-CIO Local Lodge 1943's petition for writ of certiorari Monday, letting the Aug. 12 ruling in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit stand.
