NPEs Reap Big Rewards In IP Actions: Study

Law360, New York (January 11, 2011, 7:08 PM EST) -- Patent holders in the U.S. are scoring big wins in patent infringement cases, and nonpracticing entities are reaping the largest damages on average, a study released Tuesday found.

The median damages awarded to patent holders in 2009 came in at about $9 million, edging close to an all-time record average, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's 2010 Patent Litigation Study.
