Italy OKs Power Cos.' Antitrust Commitments

Law360, New York (January 11, 2011, 5:34 PM EST) -- Italy's antitrust regulator has accepted concessions offered by a pair of gas and electric providers to end the government's competitive misconduct investigation, saying the changes should narrow the gap between wholesale energy prices in Sicily and those in mainland Italy.

As part of the deal announced Monday by the Italian Competition Authority, Enel SpA and Edipower SpA agreed to a cap on the price of the wholesale market until the end of 2013.
