T-Mobile Wins $5M Judgment In Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (January 11, 2011, 8:30 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Tuesday awarded a $5 million judgment to T-Mobile USA Inc. in a trademark infringement suit against a small firm that allegedly perpetrated a scheme to hack the cellular provider’s phones and sell them overseas.

Judge Freda L. Wolfson ruled that Cellimports LLC — along with its proprietor, Jasvinder S. Virdi — violated federal trademark infringement and false advertising statutes in its “subsidy theft scheme,” according to an order filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
