Circuit Orders Disclosure Of MediaTek Attorney Letters

Law360, New York (April 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Taiwanese computer chip maker which is being sued by Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. for infringing CD-ROM chip patents must produce attorney-client communications it sought to keep out of court, a circuit court ruled.

In a decision released Tuesday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that MediaTek’s appeal did not meet the heightened standards for mandamus, which is available in extraordinary situations to correct clear abuses of discretion or usurpation of judicial power.
