California Sued Over Law For HIV Patients

Law360, New York (April 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An AIDS health care provider has sued California for not complying with a law to extend health coverage to uninsured state residents infected with HIV.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation sued California’s Department of Health Services in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, criticizing the state for failing to provide Medicaid to HIV-positive individuals nearly five years after former California Gov. Gray Davis approved the bill.

Davis signed bill AB 2197 into law in September 2002.
