Loumidis Moves To Reopen EU Food Sanctions Suits

Law360, New York (January 13, 2011, 2:01 PM EST) -- Greek cuisine company Loumidis Foods Inc. is angling to reopen roughly 60 cases against the U.S. government over retaliatory sanctions adopted after the European Union's ban on American hormone-treated beef, following a favorable appeals court ruling.

Loumidis filed a motion Wednesday in the U.S Court of International Trade to lift the stay on the lead case, which has been on hold since September 2009, after the deadline expired for the government to appeal the decision in Gilda Industries Inc. v. U.S.
