After Comcast, GOP To Rethink FCC Review Process

Law360, New York (January 19, 2011, 11:41 AM EST) -- Republican leaders on the House Energy and Commerce Committee have said they will begin examining whether the Federal Communications Commission's transaction review process needs to be changed in the wake of Comcast Corp.'s $37 billion acquisition of NBC Universal Inc.

The FCC approved the merger on Tuesday in a 4-1 vote and deemed the acquisition in the public interest, while that same day the U.S. Department of Justice announced a settlement addressing antitrust concerns and allowing the venture to proceed.
